RESTORATION

Whether a painting comes from a prestigious museum or belonging to a private collection, for me the work of art has the same value and it requires the same care.

After appropriate evaluations, I discouraged any intervention: this case could happen for the contemporary art.

Among the restorations, there are some that have left me a strong sign, like the small painting of the Uffizi ( Pontormo "Expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Earthly Paradise") ; the painting by Caravaggio "Il Tooth" of the Palatine Gallery; Matteo Giovannetti of the Alana Collection, now exhibited at the Louvre in Paris; the painting of Mario Odo Cavaglieri "The Boyfriends", masterpiece of the artist, which is placed in the Museum of the twentieth century of Florence.

CONSERVATION

In this specific case the methodological approach becomes more complex, as it provides for the analysis of the context.

The aim is to reduce the invasiveness of treatments with projects aimed at the solution of each individual form of degradation, preventing more serious damage and monitoring the state of preservation over time.

Significant examples are the works carried out for the Gallery of Palazzo Sacrati Strozzi, venue of the Tuscany Region, and those for the Museum of the twentieth century in Florence.

Even for art it is worth the rule: better to prevent, than to cure!

CONDITION REPORT

This activity begins in 2002 on the occasion of the exhibition "The Art and Culture of Siena – from the collection of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena and Fondazione Accademia Musicale Chigiana" at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto and the Museum of Modern Art, Gumma.

The reports, which are characterized by a fundamental value, are accompanied by a rich photographic documentation, but also they require great responsibility,  analytical skills and experience. For years I have only produced them digitally through personalized forms to be signed. Finally, I am equipped to carry out investigations with imaging techniques, such as Infrared Reflectography in the 850 nm spectral band, Ultraviolet Fluorescence at 650 nm and digital microscope analysis at different magnifications.
